Homemade chalk board

I love chalkboard paint. It's cheap and easy to use, but I've only had the opportunity to use it once until now...

I created this chalkboard directly onto the wall. I taped off the area, I wanted to paint, used about 4 coats of the chalkboard paint and viola.

The frame was the remnants of a beautiful frame with broken glass. I removed the metal pieces that held the picture in so that it laid flat against the wall.

The Pampered Chef trivets work beautifully beside it.

A little DIY

I have been searching for months for ideas and options for hanging my necklaces. I don't have many really nice necklaces-you know the expensive kind but I do have numerous costume jewelry necklaces. I haven't been able to find anything until just recently and it just popped into my head one day...use an old door.

We recently remodeled our kitchen...that's a whole other post...and we chose to remove the door to the top portion of our corner cupboard mainly because it kept banging into our new cabinets and we didn't want the new cabinets ruined. I had thought to use the door as some kind of art feature in the kitchen, but I never got around to it.

Instead, it turned into a very nice place to hang my necklaces. I wish I would have thought to take before photos of the door but I didn't :(

All I did was hammer some small nails into the door and start hanging my necklaces. The good thing is, I can remove the nails and not have more than small pin sized holes in the door, allowing me to rehang it or re-purpose it again

From turtles to sadness

I've often had to slow down while driving for bunnies, squirrels and an occasional deer to cross the road, however I'm not sure I've ever had to stop for a turtle. I was driving this afternoon when I turned and there in the road in front of me was a turtle crossing the road. I had wanted to get a photo of it, however til I was able to bring my camera up on my phone, he was across the road and there were a few cars behind me--so the photo was forgotten.

2 weeks ago tomorrow we put our companion and first dog-Sadie down. It's amazing what I miss about her--those things that used to drive me nuts, lol. The first week the garbage men came, I cried--no one barked at them. We are now able to leave our trash can lid off--no one gets into it and throws it all over the floor. Yesterday, I dropped food on the floor and no one was there to clean it up. The other day I was getting myself lunch and no one was annoying me to get some while I was making it--then no one was there to stare at me while I was eating.

Tonight I was sitting on the chair feeding my daughter when I could have sworn that I saw Sadie out of the corner of my eye. Unfortunately, she wasn't really there.  It's moments like that when I realize she'll never be there again.
